Tokyo through the lens – certainly mindblowingly breathtaking pictures of the city down to street level. The pictures below were taken by Rob Sheridan, a man of many faces. An art director, a photographer, an illustrator, a designer- whatever persona that Rob manages to put on, he does it extremely well.
Rob Sheridan’s gallery is also worth taking a look at; the pictures above are just photographs from his Tokyo gallery and there are still anumber of other equally intriguing and beckoning places that he had covered such as Istanbul, Turkey, Rome, Italy, the deserts of California and New Mexico which he aptly titled as Ghosts. I later discovered that the pictures from Ghosts was for a promotional book for the band Nine Inch Nails whom he is also an art director for.
Interestingly, his first collection of photographs were from the September 11 attacks on the Twin Towers in Manhattan and the destruction and horror left behind had managed to be captured by him.

ZmeScience has this article on a couple of interesting natural phenomena that might not be so common. Have you ever heard of rainbows at night, ablations in ice, perfectly round ice circles and raining fish? Well, do you know how they occur? I found a couple of interesting pictures at the site as well as a detailed explanation about each phenomena on how it came about.
The picture above is a moonbow, or a rainbow that forms at night
Here’s a picture of a water spout, a mini tornado that forms in the middle of the ocean.
This is what you would call a fire rainbow
A whirlpool in the middle of the ocean or a more scientific term,a maelstom.
Read all about these interesting phenomena and how they came to be at the site! They have a lot more other interesting articles of note such as this article, which tells you what the deadliest creature in the world is. Nope, not a great white, but a rather small little harmless looking thing.
Epheriell Designs highlights photography around a particular theme or set with each post. One particular entry that struck out to me was an entry aptly titled “Young Love”.
The images were very sweet and profound and revolved around the essence of youth which makes love itself, captivating. Love at 17 is naive, but at the same time, innocent, with many an untainted heart that only experience can harvest.
I loved the feelings that the images evoked.
Le Love is yet another site completely focused on all things revolving around the word love, be it an image, a caption or a phrase, or a video.
I liked this site because readers sent in their photos along with their personal experiences and most of them were very inspiring and brought a smile to the face.
I’ve always been a sentimental at heart buried deep under its cynical layers, and these pictures have certainly helped to scrape away the bit of cynic in me little by little
Daily Casual is a website that showcases interesting photos on art, photographs, fashion, artful nudity (yes there is nudity on this site! so therefore not worksafe, folks) every day.
Some picks that I love about the site:
No, it’s not ALL animals, but I gravitated towards those photographs on the site
There were some inspiring art…
And some inspiring photography
There’s nearly something for everyone (although I must say a very unbalanced ratio of male to female nudity)
Bizarro comics are a familiar feature in our daily newspapers in different countries around the world. Dan Piraro’s sense of humour, his absurdly funny comics relevant to current issues and pop culture, has been deemed a comic genius by folks such as Penn and Teller – also stated proudly on his website.
Seriously, which of us did not grow up reading Bizarro comics?
Even now, we still can’t get enough of them.Well, now you can pour through the comics to your heart’s content, as the comic artist has an archive of all his comics on his website, Dan Piraro
Here are some of my favourites
People who don’t believe in religion
bimbo courtroom XD
Too funny! Go through all the Bizarro comics at Dan Piraro’s official website!

Design Sprout is a website designed to guide readers to conform to a new way of living. 1sitedaily has seen and promoted a number of eco-friendly websites in the past. What can I say-we are doing our bit to save our planet, in bytes
What I really like about this site is that it provides everyday solutions to how to make your lives a little bit greener- recyling Fedex boxes to create wine racks, recycling your yoga mat into placemats and holiday ornaments… just simple everyday stuff that you and I can both easily do.
But what I really like about the site is that they provide new novel ideas and concepts to greening up your home. Take a look at this “PlantBot”for instance. The robot automatically seeks sunlight and moves to that spot so you won’t ever have the inconvenience of moving the pot yourself. So convenient and ultra cool!
Other notable entries include an ecosensible water pitcher,
and this flow kitchen which is very sustainable. (This is one of my favourites!). According to DesignSprout, this kitchen design is self-sustainable. The washed dishes help to water the edible herbs which then prosper, and help to nurture a dust-free environment. A win-win situation.
This is turning out to be one of my favourite websites, ever.
I don’t know about guys, but a lot of girls do like to buy kitschy itty bitty stuff that doesn’t have much practical use, really, except for it to look cute or cause’ it’s pretty.
I mean, who really needs sticky adhesive notes to paste on cups, papers and tables like the one above?
But don’t you want one of these after looking at them? I know I do.
These are mini knitted baby daschunds.
I really cannot categorize the site, but I think the site name sums it up best. It really does contain jars of cute, be it pictures of food, little furry toys, keychains, bits of craft paper, or little paper flowers -things that tug at your heart and make you go “aww” and “I wish I had one of those”.
Here are bits of felt pins that are carefully handmade…
And here is a fantastic paper art of pop up owls on a paper tree.
Very creative, and inspirational too, in case your creative bone comes a-calling.
I’m sure many of you have heard of Annie Leibovitz by now, especially through her Disney Dream Portrait series featuring celebrities portraying fairy tale characters such as Snow White and Cinderella.
Here’s David Beckham as Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty
Then there were the more controversial photos of a very young Miley Cyrus (barely 15) posing topless for the cover of Vanity Fair.
She also famously shot John Lennon’s last picture for Rolling Stone before his untimely death in 1980.
However, her less famous works aren’t any less of an impact, which is why I feel that they do deserve some more attention, perhaps even more so than her more commercial photographs.
In one of her photography books simply called, “Women,” Leibovitz has managed to essentially capture the spirit and emotion of different women across the country. This picture of a young soldier girl that stuck in my mind; she was sitting down in the middle of autumn, geared head to toe in military armour and a gun in her lap, looking straight into the camera. What sort of emotions come to mind when one sees such a photo?
Other images include a drag car racer, a baseball pitcher and a performance artist. Not your everyday female gender roles, and that is why they are so inspiring.
Visit the photography site at Women@The New York Times Daily where you can view most of the photographs in the book and listen to the interview where Leibovitz talked about how the project came about.
